Emerald Lake Trail
Without a doubt my favorite hike as of yet in Colorado. The conditions were perfect, clouds rolling in over the mountains and a light snow coming down. It was a creators dream. Skipping past Bear Lake for the time being we started our hike towards Emerald Lake. It was a short stroll to Nymph Lake which is where we got to see our first glimpse of wildlife. A couple of bluejays messing around in the trees. The lake was fairly small but had a gorgeous landscape with the mountains toppling over the tree line.
After grabbing some shots we made our way to the second lake which was Dream Lake. With there being a light snow on the ground, some of the inclines were quite slippery. With the views getting better we could start to see the clearing of trees ahead. This lake couldn’t have been designed by mother nature more perfectly. With the lake ten times longer than it was wide, the end of the lake met up perfectly with the mountains above. We started walking on the frozen lake and grabbed some shots. Theses were some special photos and moments I will remember for a long time.
After reaching the end of the lake we made our way towards Emerald Lake. The hike was beginning to get a little bit steeper but that just meant we were getting closer to the mountain tops. Eventually reaching the lake we were in awe. The clouds were perfectly set, just to cover the peaks and the snow just continued to fall. It was gorgeous. We climbed this little rock face where we noticed some people feeding the birds. So we joined in and grabbed some shots. We took our time taking in the views and feeding in the birds but then headed back before Dark.
